1. Diaper, also known as nappy in UK, Ireland , Australia etc., is the term used for the sponge cloth used for kids or people not capable of using a toilet. A diaper needs a regular change as otherwise it may result in diaper rash. Disposable diapers are used commonly now as they are easy to handle without the hassle of washing and drying unlike cloth diapers. This is commonly used for infants because it absorbs the wetness and helps the infants be comfortable even when left unnoticed thus leaving them a free baby to play irrespective of their nature’s call. However there has always been a debate as to whether cloth or disposable diapers are better. There are several reasons which include hygiene, cost, convenience etc. Diapers are not only baby stuff but are used by adults too in some cases like patients who are bed ridden, astronauts etc. Generally diapers are worn out of necessity. Although disposable diapers are preferred for their convenience and hygiene, their regular usage has had an impact on its disposing methods and the resultant environmental disturbances. This has now prompted the world to campaign for using alternative reusable cloths or hybrid diapers. A recent study had pointed out that disposable diapers result seven times more solid waste than cloth diapers. This apart it also results in three times more waste during manufacture.
